Purists would tear out their hair out...and I say let them go bald! Charlotte Church's version is a cross-over between opera and flamenco pop and it's a fresh perspective. I do confess that I would love to hear her sing the original Bizet but that is not a criticism of what she does. I praise fusion in all the arts, from music to cooking. Opera is not dead, it is very alive and always open to experimentation...and Charlotte Church is a cutting edge in this new medium.
